What We Choose to Remember
The documentary film What We Choose to Remember was chosen as the opening film at the Hudson film festival in May 2022. It screened twice and received considerable media coverage. And that could have been the end of the story. Then the film screened at the Knowlton film festival in August and was invited Rouyn-Noranda, which has a surprisingly rich history of English-speaking residents, and then to Gaspé, which has an even deeper and richer history of English-speaking residents.
These four screenings would become the first chapter of the book What We Choose To Forget, but the idea of a book would only begin to emerge a year later, after 10 screenings in the Montérégie (chapter 2) and eight screenings in Laval, the Lanaudière and the Laurentians (chapter 3). By December 2024 the film had been screened 55 times all around Quebec, and the book had written itself … with a little help from the author.

Ce qu’on choisit de se souvenir
Le documentaire Ce qu’on choisit de se souvenir a été choisi comme film d'ouverture du festival du film de Hudson en mai 2022. Il a été projeté deux fois et a bénéficié d'une importante couverture médiatique. L'histoire aurait pu s'arrêter là. Le film a ensuite été projeté au festival du film de Knowlton en août puis à Rouyn-Noranda, ville possédant une histoire anglophone étonnamment riche, puis à Gaspé, où l’histoire anglophone est encore plus ancienne et riche.
Ces quatre projections allaient constituer le premier chapitre du livre Ce qu’on choisit d’oublier, mais l’idée d’un livre ne commencerait à germer qu’un an plus tard, après dix projections en Montérégie (chapitre 2) et huit projections à Laval, la Lanaudière et dans les Laurentides (chapitre 3). En décembre 2024, le film avait été projeté 55 fois partout au Québec, et le livre s’était écrit de lui-même… avec un petit coup de pouce de l’auteur.
